Advancing Driver Safety by Combining Technology with First-hand Experience
Virtual Techniques Drive Home Learning
Advanced Driver Safety (ADS) is the latest in a series of simulation-based driver training courses designed to challenge experienced drivers. ADS is a safe, fast-paced, highly engaging and educational fleet driver safety training course. It is commonly used for new-hire assessment, fleet training, refresher courses, and driver intervention/correction.
ADS is available for under $10,000, with unlimited use and no per driver training costs. The system comes complete with all software, hardware and peripherals. Included with the ADS package is a powerful driver management and reporting tool called Vantage.
Your drivers interact directly with the system; no need to “train the trainer”. ADS provides an instructor who is available 24/7 and provides real-time feedback and coaching, with objective and consistent reporting.
ADS Fleet Edition consists of a core curriculum of 10 lessons plus specialized scenarios commonly faced by fleet drivers. ADS also includes pre and post assessments and open-world drives for custom lessons or additional practice.
The distracted driving lesson includes drowsy driving, phone calls, texting, music selection as well as web surfing. The intelligent pedestrian system also provides more interactions and distractions.
The fleet edition provides an immersive learning experience that includes familiar road environments, weather conditions, and autonomous traffic.
ADS offers a diverse fleet of drivable vehicles allowing your employees to learn in the type of vehicle they drive: vans, SUVs, pickups, delivery trucks, passenger vehicles, and others.

Vantage™ Makes Management Reporting Simple
The Vantage Driver Management and Reporting tool allows an administrator to track the progress and performance of each driver, as well as review and print detailed and summary reports.
Vantage provides detailed, objective, and consistent reporting of each driver’s progress through the program.
Since July 2013 when we implemented the simulator in our facility, we’ve seen a 38% reduction in crashes. And, so far this year, we are trending well below last year’s numbers.

VDI’s driving simulators have proven to be a cost-effective and engaging way to provide refresher training before and us post office logo imageafter accidents to our Postal Carriers and Tractor/Trailer Operators. More importantly, the simulation-based driver safety training has considerably reduced accident rates in the Suncoast District during our trial period compared to the same period last year. In fact, we have had only one backing accident since we got the simulator in Tampa compared to last year when there were 26!

When we looked at the potential benefit to Bright House Networks of a new and creative way to address the challenge of distracted driving and the possible payoff, measured in terms of human life, property damage, operations hindrance, and impact to brand name, it just made sense to add the Virtual HD® simulator to our safety program. VDI is working with our Corporate Safety Department to reduce driving errors, save money, and bottom line, to save lives!

The Virtual HD® simulator allows us to address driver safety in a new and exciting forum, as opposed to the traditional meeting forum, to continue to drive our safe driving focus. Since the simulator is portable, it also allows us to save on travel expenses by bringing the simulator to the employees, which helps us logistically. The virtual lessons compliment and parallel our current Smith System driving philosophy giving us a more consistent safe driving message.
